Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10 1949. She is an American investor, speaker and consultant. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly thereafter , the company was sold. Corcoran was one of the first Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. She has participated in 53 deals since February of 2020. The biggest was a $350,000 investment that will cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children from a working-class Irish Catholic family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., bounced from job to job throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family frequently relied on free food deliveries from a local grocery store. Corcoran states her father was a drunk who did her mother a disservice and sarcastic remarks. Corcoran was a struggle in school and was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after having attended a Catholic elementary school. Corcoran completed her studies at Leonia High School with a diploma in English, despite failing several courses during her freshman years.
