Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris born October 20, 1964) is an American politician and attorney who is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female elected vice president, and she also holds the title of highest-ranking female officer in the history of America. She is a member of Congress and a former senator from California. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Following her first job as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In the following years, she was the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. In 2010, she was elected Attorney General of California and then re-elected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator and campaigned for reforms to healthcare and federal cannabis de-scheduling. She also advocated for a pathway to citizenship for immigrants without a legal status and the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons as well as progressive tax reform. Her sharp questioning of Trump officials in Senate hearings earned her national attention, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
